Local TOEFL (ITP ®) is a test preparation course for studying Academic English characteristic of the TOEFL® exam at the intermediate level of language proficiency, together with test taking strategies for optimal performance on the TOEFL. This course will thoroughly familiarize students with the institutional TOEFL examination. Instruction includes test-taking strategies, analysis of question types, vocabulary building strategies, grammar review, and listening strategies. The course equally emphasizes both language development and test taking strategies.
- To learn academic English skills as relevant to the TOEFL®;
- To prepare students to take the TOEFL® by discussing, practicing, and analyzing each section of the test;
- To improve TOEFL® test-taking skills and strategies in each section of the test;
- To review particular grammatical patterns that occur regularly on the TOEFL®;
- To simulate actual test-taking conditions so that you become familiar with and more comfortable with test situations; and
- To learn the scoring procedures for the exam so that a student can interpret your own test scores.
Course Outline:
This course will cover:
- Listening Comprehension Section;
- Structure and Written Expression Section;
- Reading Comprehension Skills; and
- Practice Tests.
An English SAT teacher and certified teacher licensed in the UAE Ministry of Education. He is in his twelfth year teaching English. He studies in the tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades in schools that implement the American curriculum.
He graduated from Mansoura University, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature with a specialization in texts analysis (2010) and also holds a Diploma of Arts in Teaching (2014). He was the 2017 AMS Teacher of the Year.
